I talked with him and was amazed at how great he sounded! I kept saying, I don't want to wear you out. He kept saying Gaugie stuff like, "I have nowhere to go," "What else am I gonna do?"
He said that while he hadn't talked directly to the surgeon, MJ had, and that the surgeon was "jazzed" about the results. We decided that meant really good. Like maybe he'll be better than before. The grace of Fred Astaire, the speed of Carl Lewis, the endurance of Gibralter. That might take a day or two though.

I suppose there is probably relief right now-- (it's over, I'm still breathing, I have a morphine pump, life is good)-- it's the long weeks of recovery that maybe we can help with. Maybe I'll send him the home movies of a three hour Thanksgiving dinner when the boys were 2 and 4. Just kidding.
