Derek and Thread,

regarding I-Jam...

I did not know you could by the I-Jam in stores.

Message 12400840

I would really like to see affordable MMC cards in the 32 and 64 MB variety available either at retail or on the Internet. I think they would sell like hot cakes.

I was in CompUSA in Chicago area yesterday and they had sold all their I-JAMS and Diamonds. It should be a great 2000 for Sandisk.

Although IJAM is compact flash, I was under the impression that Rios are SmartMedia. In fact, a friend at Toshiba was using a Toshiba 8M SmartMedia in his Rio expansion slot (8M is paltry, but it was free!)

Does anybody have any more information about the announcement in las Vegas next week during CES?

The announcement will probably be an update on the progress of the SD memory card collaboration. [See sandisk.com for the earlier press release.] I expect them to announce the product name, perhaps an organization similar to the CompactFlash Organization, some prospective partners and maybe some prototype devices. There could also be a large number of announcements of design wins for CF and MMC. Expect to see many flash-based devices at CES.

There has been a lot of speculation about a stock split. The board is clearly contemplating a split. My guess is that they will announce a 2-for-1 split with the Jan earnings release, provided that results are reasonably good and the stock price is near or above $100. I do not expect a 3-for-1 because that would bring the number of issued shares very close to the limit, reducing flexibility in doing takeovers etc.
