Jill -

Also, partial transfer move much faster so I think this is a good idea.

I had just the opposite happen to me. I tried to transfer part of my account from Etrade to DLJDirect. The partial transfer took over 8 weeks. After numerous calls to Etrade, I was told that the transfer would have been done in 1/2 the time if I had transferred my entire account. They said that an entire account transfer would be done electronically and a partial transfer is done by courier or mail. Also, partial transfers had to go through additional checks and balances to be sure the correct items were being transerred. Maybe these are just quirks with Etrade.

Ylang - Maybe you should call your broker and see which way they say will be faster.

Good luck with the transfer!

Ritch

Jill,

I will be amazed if you get break in commissions at Fidelity. If you do please let us know. Two of my friends are major option traders and got nothing from Fidelity despite high volumes.

Steve

Were you transferring a margin balance? I heard that I need to do a special transfer because of the margin balance. With couriers and all that. It could take four to six weeks.
