TM, Wow! That's really nice of you!

But, it's a long way to fall off that pedestal so let's consider some of the other issues.

Boy, that seminar in 1996 seems like a long time ago. The seminar was titled "Financial Planning Without A Magic Wand". It was good wasn't it!

Based on the seminar and a long-time relationship, you and Sandy decided to entrust $30K to me. I used my best FA to choose various stocks, and, in a little over a year had managed to reduce it to $18K. Boy, was that a tough lesson in the difference between the "little puppies" and the Big Boyz.

Your concern in following me into the land of TA was certainly understandable. Boy, was it a tough period to start -- the fall of 1998 was brutal! Frankly, it was much like this Fall as trend lines were being obliterated.

I appreciated your support to an extent you could not possibly imagine. It's easy when all is going according to Plan, like the end of August, when I was trouncing the Index by 4x. It's a lot tougher when the times get tough, like when the performance was getting obliterated by the stupid entry in "the softer side." Blowing up my personal account didn't help my mental well-being! Looking back, the two were connected.

No one is prouder of your performance than this Dude! Nonetheless, you cannot teach discipline, and you are one of the best at it! All the FA and TA is great, but it takes a real Dude to cut his losses when the trade isn't going as anticipated. This is particularly important in our Ride the Wave, Bet the Bank, fully margined, game.

A lot has been learned in 1999, and I look forward to the lessons to be learned in 2000. In fact, if one isn't looking forward to the lessons, one should probably choose another game.

A Humble Dude Looking Forward to the Future. Looks like I may be leaving the Swamp in the very near future to take on a really challenging employment opportunity, but I will never leave this sandbox. I really appreciate the knowledge gained by exchanging views with MG, DJ, TG, JT, Gersh, and the other folks that have checked in and out. However, a special thanks to you and KB for sharing 1999. May we all enjoy Health and Prosperity in 2000.

TB

TM: Great Results!

There's no complaining about those returns. Congrats!

So you're venturing into leaps now. I'll watch with interest to see how it goes. That would be a new venture for me as well... keep me posted, please.

That was very cool reading about how you got started. I never realized that you came in kicking and screaming!<g> But you've got to be careful about giving Berney TOOOOOOOOO much praise. We don't want him to get a swelled head. :-) Oh well, he deserves it.

Take care,
Bob
