Scott,

I talked to Alan Engbring when we were at around 22, before the drop to 18 & now the subsequent advance. His thoughts were that possibly everyone who wanted to sell did so in July/99 with the 4 million share day. This left the long term dregs like us.

Also that there was certainly someone(s) accumulating (as can be seen at the end of most trading days). They may have to file a 'xx-y' if they have accumulated enough.

What I think, fwiw, is that over the years Vical has made steady, consistent, usually slow progress for Vical the Company while Vical the stock traded from 7-16. The 'progress' that was being made was never reflected in the stock price. Just maybe that reflection is starting to happen.

And if I jinx the rally by saying that -- sorry. But I have always believed since 3/94 (and still believe) that they have great promise and if they continue to 'deliver' on their many pipelines the stock price will certainly appreciate.

Glad to hear you got a double...

Bill

Scott,

I agree that Vical is still a good investment. I've made it through three years & hopefully the next three will show the value of patience.

I looked back over my 2 investment notebooks on Vical this rainy afternoon to remind myself why I bought it.

The old articles dating back to 1993 all tout the value of the naked DNA vaccines. I don't think that that has ever changed. It is just the amazing span of time that is necessary to go from discovery to distribution that is worthy of being reminded of.

So doing that, I was duly reminded and will wait for at least another 3-5 years as long as we have continual clinical success.

Bill

Do you think this move is rooted by past performance or by anticipated events?
