So far, no disagreement whatsoever.

"The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari" was astonishing. With what we should consider incredibly primitive techniques, a film whose brooding atmosphere, altogether by suggestion, of the possibility of evil that can still make us uneasy is a triumph indeed!

Speaking of triumphs, "Triumph of the Will" is so incredibly non-PC that I salute you for posting it in public! She was a wonderfully talented filmmaker--so much so that a friend who lost family in the Holocaust said to me while we watched it, "For God's sake, don't let me jump to my feet and cheer! This is incredible art. I am moved."

"Gone with the Wind" is a film whose melodrama sinks the novel, IMO. Although the burning of Atlanta must stand as a cinematic special. As does the first scene of the classic film noir that Orson Welles directed, the one with the car that finally explodes.... Wracking my brains for the name of the film....

Some good ones, but no Strangelove. GONG!!!! Also, re "The Cook, the Thief,.....," I think it would be a good idea if you checked into a clinic for "observation". Must admit to being seated next to a person or two that caused me to recall the "fork in the cheek scene." M
