According to International Data Corp., Linux is the fastest growing operating system on the market today. The firm predicts that commercial Linux shipments will rise at a compounded annual growth rate of 25 percent, compared with 10 percent and 12 percent, respectively, for other client and server operating systems. Because Progress'software is the foundation for some 5,000commercial applications from independent software vendors, Linux versions of Progress' products are expected to fuel Linux's already rapid growth.
