By the way Ed, I don't own BGT and I don't know if I will.

My comments are only in reference to smart cards in general. As for lining up merchants, you would be surprised at how many merchants will love smart cards once they are available.

Ten years ago was too soon for smart cards. Ten years ago Internet commerce was not where it is at now and the need for smart cards would have been almost non-existent.

Consumers may not like them but the banks will force them to use these cards. They'll have promos galore to get people comfortable with the idea of using smart cards instead of credit cards or debit cards. Just wait and see what happens in 2000.

The uses for smart cards are unlimited. They are not just going to be used for online purchases. Soon they will incorporate some sort of finger printing technology into the cards to make them even more risk free. You will be amazed at the different kinds of uses people will have for smart cards other than making purchases.

Lola:)
