Brian, the Churches of Revelation existed when John wrote Revelation. Today, the Churches no longer exist. I don't understand how somw will apply those Churches to our present day Churches.

Also I believe that when John wrote Revelation the Temple was still standing. Let Scripture interpret Scripture. The Angel had John "measure" the diminsions of the literal Temple of Herod. That is a strong indication that the Temple was at the writing still standing. This would mean that the Apostles would be in possession of the Revelation of John. Of course this was a master plan about what would happen in 70AD. The Bible says that the Eagles (ROME) would surround Jerusalem.
Josephus, the Jewish General is the only eye witness that wrote of what happened. I believe that this was God's intent to use Josephus as the "witness" to tell what happened.
I happen to also believe what he put down. Have you read the passages about the Apocalypse by Josephus?

There are many more considerations. The Jewish language was "flavored" as they generally were very discriptive such as stars crashing into the earth. I can find several such "flavorful" writings in the Old Testament about shaking of the earth and the sun not giving light. Obviously, it did not happen then nor did it happen at the Second Coming. We also have two witnesses that saw the battles and noises being heard in the sky as the Angels fought demons.
