Thank you for your response, Dan. I am currently long with a very small position. I understand that the position of the longs is as you stated, otherwise they obviously wouldn't be long. My reason for posting on this thread was to ascertain the view from the short side.

I have a great deal of respect for shorters because in a bull market, foolish shorters would be quickly wiped out. As a result, there are plenty of foolish longs in todays market, but not many foolish shorters. As a result, I always avoid companies that are fully shorted. While GUMM is not fully shorted, the short position is quite large, which to me serves as a major warning sign. Before increasing my position I would like to hear from the shorts why they are short. Only by knowing their reasons can I make a decision as to the likely merit of their position, and then a decision as to whether or not to increase my position or eliminate it.

Carl

Welcome Dan;
Concerning your statement that I've been wrong for a year, your incorrect. I've been on the sidelines since covering last fall and was tempted to short recently at 18-19 and commented on thaton the GUMM thread.
Anyway I've also posted when I think GUMM will begin to deteroiate as well which will occur in conjunction with their 4th qtr earnings.
You attribute a number of comments and views to me that exist solely in your mind.
Fact is GUMM is a finincial basket case.......who is a bit innovative in creating story oriented product ideas which has allowed them to sell stock that they have needed to do to keep the company going. Dan it will end.
A good example of how the end will look is to examine QGLY.
All kinds of junk has risen in the market over the past year, I would include GUMM in that description......it will correct and the time isn't far off.
