I think most decent brokers will sell the ITM at expiration if it is worth about 3/16, or so - enough to cover commissions. Otherwise it would exercise, no? I had this problem with some poots in my IRA account, where you can't go short by law. I couldn't get through to the rummy broker to sell the options and was afraid they would short the shares and I would be slapped with a premature distribution and the associated tax penalties. Turns out they sold off the contracts at the close.

I see there is no stopping this market. Tip's market call was wrong, as usual. -g-
