Rocket,

RE margin and never getting a call (please listen dangergirl), a fully margined but diversified account will probably not get called since you can go down to 35% Equity Percent or 35% cash value to equity value.

When you get crushed is if you leverage it up on only a couple of stocks. Individual stocks can get crushed, a basket of 10-20 stocks on average will hold up better and will enable one to avoid margin calls...

MileHigh

PS- dangergirl, some stocks have different margin requirements, research properly before borrowing against these respective stocks...

I have to check, but I was on margin at the time. I had very good broker then he was in his late 70s, he said the following "Turn off the f****** TV and get your ass in here Greg time to buy." Jump in my car arrived closed my eyes and said do it. I loved the man like my own father, he taught me so much. Wasn't that 87. <g> so long ago..

here is a nice

charthttp://stockcharts.com/charts/historical/images/DJIA1900.gif

I started full time in 83. All one has to is look at that chart to realize all the little heart burn and loss sleep is not worth it.
