Thanks.

As of now, I'm adding stocks.

Completed my FASH position which is more a "cash" play mixed with tax loss selling and e-tailers totally out of favor.

Added CDCO after it stabilised in the low 4s range.

Adding badly sold down EYES at 1 3/8, and AMMB 1 5/16 per now, but these 2 are very speculative positions.

Buying LSON, includes a possible spinoff fantasy and VIXL, a fallen IPO angel.

I see the market turning down a bit, hence maybe a good time to add later today.

KLOC and also BTOB left prematurely....

Thanks for your ideas, AOR looks interesting, and also NMGC is destined for better prices.

N, Congrats on the nice gain in PROG...

and a happy new year!

Looks like 2000 can be a year of the small caps (if it is a bullish year at all). I see small caps begin to outperform bigger ones for the first time (Dec 99).

Final results for my January Effect picks.

stock / mkt cap ($M) / gain
AOR 586 - 1%
LII 416 +11%
NMGC 260 -10%
PDX 109 +33%
PROG 32 +32%
SVM 3,571 +34%

average +17% (all gains are net of trading costs)

Russell 2000 +10.6%

I'm very satisfied with the results: I outperformed the RUT
by over 6%, and that's after my trading costs of 2% for
commissions plus more for bid/ask spread.

I bought in the period Dec. 20 - Dec. 28, and I sold
everything by the first Friday in February, or when I had a
+35% gain, whichever came first. I think I'll follow the
same formula next year.

Here's a link with charts etc. for all of them:

In December 2000 I will start a new thread for the next
January Effect. See all of you then!
