The question isn't whether Intel, LSI, AMAT, et. al. are typically conservative in their forecasts--they are. The question is how many of them correctly predicted this most recent downturn. Or, for that matter, correctly called the beginning of the current upturn. Not many, as I recall. Caveat investor.

My own outlook is fairly positive. We are still only seeing the first ripples of the next wave of fab expansion. Price pressures and double-booking in the PC market remain worrisome, but non-PC semiconductors seem to be rocketing.
