In a whisper:

valuation still matters........

Nothing left for Bulldozer and me to discuss on these threads.

If the average investor knew that these cheerleading analysts were complete banking fee prostitution idiots and have never seen a bear market, then the average investor would.....

just buy more.

JDSU is a great company and well positioned, the stock can also act poorly when the company is doing well.

This frenzy means the pain in the poor markets will be more extreme.

Valuation: not relevant...... For now

Caveat: We still own it but the risk reward is changing.

TD

Bruce re: "Since Qualcomm was at $500 when the Paine Webber analyst announced his $1000 target which was double from the current price at 'announcement' time - the two are the same call."

Yes, but there is a big difference betweeen PaineWebber and Gruntal. PaineWebber is one of the 5 largest brokerages and has about 10,000 retail brokers nationwide. I bet Gruntal doesn't have 1,000. Also, PaineWebber was initiating coverage--that means that their 10,000 brokers were calling customers who likely had no position in QCOM and getting them to take new positions (i.e. New money flow into QCOM). In contrast, Gruntal announced a price target upgrade. I suspect that while Gruntal customers may add a little to their JDSU positions, most probably look at it as a hold.

Bruce, the JDSU call by Gruntal was not hyped at all. It barely made the news on CNBC. I don't remember seeing it on some newswires.
It requires a high profile call with media interviews --saw him on CNBC this morning.

I would bet if Merrill Lynch made a similiar call to Gruntal's, it will get everyone's attention.

In any case, i am looking for huge gains on this stock going into January.
