Tellabs has about 500 customers worldwide. They range from cable operators and wireless service providers to local and long distance carriers and competitive service providers. The Competitive Local Exchange Carrier segment is the fastest growing customer segment of Tellabs business. The purchase of a small privately held company such as SALIX focuses on Voice over ATM background trunking applications for incumbent service provider markets, both wireline and wireless.However any new service provider building a multiservice network based on ATM technology is also a potential customer for the SALIX AN2100 GX. I like how Tellabs is picking up the new small companies that have the technology needed for growth...who needs the big co.'s with all their baggage and the longer timeframe to make decisions and with to many chiefs. Mike Birck has captained a great ship and it is still ahead of the fleet.
