I've had post that made me laugh, and posts that made me angry, but this is the first one that has brought tears to my eyes. I can't tell you how proud I am of this thread and the fine people that populate it, and the help and hope they have given you. God bless you and yours, CMan. I'm proud that you've chosen to be a part of our family.

100, great heart-felt post, and congratulations on your tenacity, which is the one quality that is necessary to succeed not only in the stock market, but in life. I don't have nearly the rags to riches tale that you have, but I also lost almost all of my money on some bad investments, not once, but twice in my life, the most recent only a bit over a year ago. Unlike you, I was a slow learner, having read and studied the gorilla game principles but not sticking to them. It was only a few months ago that I began lurking on this thread and getting some great ideas from the folks here and on related threads about what tech investing is all about. It's one thing to know in your head what to do, it's quite another to practice it. Like you, I turned my fortunes around and have recovered all of my losses plus plenty more, in a very short time. I don't expect to have the same success in 2000 as I had this incredible year, but if I even have one half or one third, I will be very happy. And, if for some reason, things don't turn out well, that will be fine as well, I still believe in the principles of the GG approach to tech investing.

Again, congratulations, and thanks for sharing that.

Gee, this is starting to seem like one of those informercials :-)

100, great post. I am happy for you. I will not ask what company it was that collapsed but one theme clear in GG investing is stewardship of capital. Someone at the company that hosed you and your colleagues missed the boat there.

Yes, DownSouth and others here are thoughtful, straight shooters. (Unsolicited praise BTW!)What true GG investor wouldn't be?

I too LOL when you mentioned pinhead on CNBC who said sell QCOM, buy Monsanto. The guy no doubt was a "value" stock picker. I suspect "value" investing may have been responsible for much of your earlier losses. Such "sensible" investing is responsible for 100% of my losing positions. You definitely came to the right place and now so have I.

Cheers

Good Evening 100 (and I do mean GOOD),

What an excellent story. I can sympathize to a degree with you. My situation didn't get nearly as serious as yours but I had lost a huge part of my investments due to bad choices and just plain bad advice.

I had the fortune of meeting Dancelot on the Q thread and he invited me here and shall we say the rest is history. (So you all have LindyBill to blame for my presence here) Early on I was poised to pull the trigger once or twice myself, not wanting to take another "loss", but the thread's advice finally sunk in and there hasn't been a thought of that since.

Look forward to a long and very prosperous relationship with you and this incredible family of ours.

Perceval

Century:

Thank you for the heart wrenching tale of your comeback, and thank you for remembering the members of the thread.

I've told people about the GG, the G&K thread, and Qcom. Some have bought Qcom. One has applied himself and has read TFM, and is lurking the thread.

But to be honest, I find it shocking that nearly everyone else has shunned reading TFM and the thread. They claim I am especially "driven", an outlier so to speak, and they are not. I dunno, it doesn't really seem that hard to me. One would think that with one's family's future and such at stake, that that would constitute enough motivation.

Best to all, and given today's events and for today only, I would like to depart my usual self and assume another posture, quoting Bruce Willis from the DieHard series, in which he declares.............

"YIPPEEKAYAYMOTHERF$$$$$"

Apollo@YEEEEEEEEEEHHAAAAAAAAHHHHHH.com

PS..I would like to politely remind my favorite thread Uncle, UF, about a recommendation I made shortly before the November Q earnings report, in which he whispered the possibility of selling Q..........
"Don't mess around trying to time the Q"

100, That post brought a tear to my eye. You certainly are good with words. Thank you for sharing that.

>> it seemed no matter how much time and effort i put into the G&K project i found i barely could keep up<<

ain't that the truth

>> i now laugh at the idiots on cnbc(one of them said today that he would sell Q and buy monsanto...)<<

And a few days ago, I think one of them said sell Q and buy Kodak. I just hope they follow their own advice.

Continued good fortune to you sir, and a deservedly happy new year.

StockHawk

100, your post stopped me in my tracks. Thank you for your
eloquent message. Just want to
wish you, your family, and everyone on this fine tread
the best in life next year. And if you get the chance
help someone a little less fortunate.
regards,

100,

You say you're not good with words. I disagree.

in 90 days i made back a lifetime's worth of stock losses from every cockemame investing strategy/news letter known to man. ... hopefully if some other poor beat up soul wanders here I can do for them what has been done for me.

Trust me when I mention that you're first comment about making back a life-time's worth of losses already helped any number of lurkers who are wondering if we're for real. We are and you help validate that.

Now if I can only convince you to use upper-case letters at the begining of sentences. I love your posts and have a hard time reading them. :)
