Actually, they do get a cut of the concession rights in the form of a royalty! They own the land + building(s) + royalties on all the prison-made merchandise (i.e. vanity license plates).

Now, the primary reason for the stock being so down is bad publicity over some high-profile prison break-outs in Youngstown, Ohio. Also, some of the staff were poorly trained - some were or should I say, are, drug mules smuggling heroin and crack into the jailcells.
Hence, they have had trouble raising additional capital so they fired their C.E.O. and are restructuring from a R.E.I.T. into a common stock, again. This is the second stock pick for Y2K which involves a management restructuring. My other pick is: LDM on Toronto. Target: $12.00 but don't accumulate until this 15% correction ends sometime in February!

Happy New Year to all my followers!

George,

what is your opinion on the current news out on Aber? Is this just another attempt by the many levels of government trying to wrangle more $$$ from Aber? Does anyone know if DMM had the same sort of problems that ABZ is now experiencing?

Thanks
Ron
