Diamond Jim, sorry to butt in, but if you come accross a place which is great for children, has a good school system, and is not congested, please let me know. I've had it with california, its repressive tax system, dismal education system, and ultra liberal fanatical approach to "resolving" many issues. regards

Dear Diamond and Joseph: First Humidity---I can't. We have 3-4 mos in Fla. which are pure hell and frankly, I have lived here since 1950 so I believe if its hell on me it would be hell on nearly anyone. So, everything is airconditioned. Even plants are A/C. So you wear shorts and t-shirts, and stay inside except for swimming and the like. But the humidity and heat in the summer is why I set off on a quest for a new home. Second, Joseph: In two years I have driven a total of 18,000 miles combing the USA for the best place to live. One summer I did the West and the next summer the East. There is no place of any significance in the 48 states I have not been too. Here is the place I would suggest for you: Asheville, North Carolina. Its in the Western Part of N.Carolina near the Smoky Mountains. Thus temperature is temperate. Close enough to the mountains to finds winter sports but not much snow there. University of N. Carolina hospital located there, good school system (I am told, didnt check it out carefully as have no schoolage children), much in the way of fine arts and very reasonable housing cost. Taxes are moderate ( I think its a 3 1/2% state income tax) and politically conservative. JDN
