My problem and yours, all along, has been an incapacity to conceive of the the dimensions of possible folly--that is, at least I assumed that enough wisdom was widely enough diffused so that the present mania in the US was not possible. I was completely wrong. I understood when the Japanese, rejoicing in a glorious recovery from WWII total defeat, could overreach in 1989.

I guess it has a lot to do with the "winning" of the cold war.

Hard to know now where safety lies.

Everyone has to have oil and will pay lots more--ten times more in some cases--than it currently costs.

I'll stick with a heavy weighting in oil, I guess.
