Glenn,

The online retailing is in its embryonic stages. Geez - what do you expect from an embryo ? That it will recite Shakespeare ????

One day, my friend, one day they will start to walk without stumbling. All of them. And that will be the big day for humankind !!!!

THE DAY AHEAD: Amazon.com infrastructure investment pays off
By Larry DignanTDAIN ZDII

E-tailers are taking some serious hits these days because of delayed deliveries, lack of infrastructure and poor customer service. What's bad news for e-tailers overall could be good news for Amazon.com (Nasdaq: AMZN), which bet right with its $300 million infrastructure investment.

Amazon.com's plan to "err on the side of overcapacity," carry lots of inventory and generally buck the usual business practices has the company looking good in the "intangible" department.

The intangibles are things like customer service, perception an e-tailer can get you the goods and general faith in the company and brand. It's hard to measure any of these intangibles, but they are important because they ensure a customer will stick around.
