Jefferies raised their 12-18 month price target on AOL from $90 to $110
based on a compelling relative valuation and strong long-term fundamental
outlook. Jefferies said that AOL?s advertising and e-commerce business along
would justify the price if it had the same price multiple as Yahoo. What is also
expected to help AOL is two strategic alliances formed with Wal-Mart and
Circuit City. Wal-Mart/AOL deal starts on January 1, 2000 which would be
a customized version of Compuserve targeted towards the value segment of
consumers. Also, AOL 5.0 will be distributed throughout Wal-Mart stores.
Similar deal was signed with Circuit City where AOL products and services
would be offered to Circuit City customers throughout its 615 stores. AOL?s
subscriber growth continues to be strong which recently added its 20 millionth
customer and is expected to reach 22.7 million by the end of Q2 2000.
