OK you were right, I had a sequence backwards on parking the car versus turning in the keys. Also now that the confusion is cleared, Carolyn's idea of a possible stop at a convience store could come into play, assuming that SJ turned left on Elm to walk back to her apartment. You also mentioned something about a "parking lot", I think close to one of these covenience stores. Is that correct also?

Only reason I am asking is that in this area, just within the last 2 weeks, someone was attacked and killed, in a parking lot with a knife and also had had their throat slashed. I only know about it because I was walking in the area myself and ran smack into all of the police tape, so I checked the local papers the next day and found the article.
Word on the street (not newspapers) was that it was a vagrant who had done the attacking. This is also why I asked about the statistics of knives vs guns and knives used to slit throats. I know that IF SJ was attacked in the parking lot, that it still doesn't explain how the body got to the crime scene but I feel it is of note if the incidents of knife attacks is on the rise and more specifically knife attacks with throats slit on the rise. IF those 2 statistics are in fact on the rise, then it lends credance to your "random killing" theory.

I believe you said that Jim did go to the hockey game that night for a little while. Is that correct? If he did then the possibility of him being the Blonde guy with glasses following SJ on College before Elm lessens to almost nil as he probably would have walked to and from the rink. Even if he drove his car, and for some reason drove back to Yale before going home, then why would he be walking at that point on College St. Makes more sense that he would be driving, unless I am missing something on where he would have had to park his car at Yale.

Still bugged on what the parents were quoted as saying. They were definitely TOLD something that caused the statement to be said. "What" and by "Who" could be crucial here. If it was by the local police then it is probably data that would help incriminate Jim. If it was someting that SJ had said to them herself prior to the killing, or even possibly something that another student imparted to them, then that would open a whole new door.

Back to you Jeff.
