Just an added note-- I don`t own any stocks that I have had longer than 6 months. I`m beginning to think that I might be better selling a few horses to cover the margin. BTW-- until yesterday I didn`t know what the term "cost basis " meant. (TOld you guys I was a BEGINNER)

Instead of figuring out which one stock to sell, I suggest looking and see how they are all weighted and then sell a little of each. A tad more in commissions of course, but you are not forced to liquidate an entire position. Should you sell all of your aol for instance, and it shoots to the moon, you will not be a happy camper.

Selling a little of each keeps you diverse as well

Best of luck to ya

dangergirl - i agree with kg. figure out how much you need to liquidate and sell a portion of each stock, or maybe say two or three. this way you hedge your bets. unless there is one you really want to dump.

It depends how much margin you have. I carry margin all the time. If it is less than 25%, I won't worry a bit.

DG - depending on how much $ you need, you might sell DIM or ITM calls to provide cash and get option premium on top of it.

Best,
