JDN,

I agree from the outside looking in, QCOM seems total madness. But in the Gorilla scheme of things it makes perfect sense. They have a lock on the technology, can command high premiums and dictate to the masses. They already have a strong foothold, if not a lock, on next generation technology.
I think we are looking at possible INTC and CSCO valuations on it. Gorillas are never "cheap" in the "value investing" paradigm, but they are always under valued.
I am just beginning to understand this philosophy, but it makes more sense to me than anything I've ever read.
I am more confident with my portfolio going into 2000 than ever before with the vast majority in;
SUNW King
GMGI my Godzilla
QCOM Gorilla
JDSU Gorilla or King (depending on who you talk to)
GMST Gorilla (young)
CSCO Gorilla

'Course with the volatility, you have a few gut-wrenching drops (like QCOM shaving 100 pts in 20 min this am)that try to shake your faith. But these stocks always seem to come back stronger than before. Everyone wants to own the leaders, do you think that will ever change?

Funny, an "analyst" on CNBC 2 days ago was telling folks to sell QCOM and buy Monsanto because it was "undervalued" - these jokers just don't get it.
Also, when the analyst manufactured "rotation into cyclicals" happens again this year, and it will, again, I wont bite. Like I am going to sell high growth, high profit margin stocks to buy paper and chemicals crap. Then HOPE I can buy my tech stocks back at a better price and pay taxes along the way.
Stickin' to my guns, JDN.

Seriously, get the book "Gorrilla Game" (i.e. The Manual) and check out the thread, it has changed many lives this year. I mainly lurk, because I still have a lot to learn before I can meaningfully contribute. There is very little of the nonsense I see going on here too often. (I'd love to see twister debate Uncle Frank about QCOM valuation. twister, this is NOT an invitation, I wouldn't inflict the twis on anyone purposefully. :0) )

BTW, nice call on ERICY, I knew a lot of Money Managers who traded that frequently years ago, but I never seriously looked at it.

Here's to a prosperous 2000!
