I have said this many times before and it has gotten me into a few arguments...oh well.
  Just keep this in mind, Re: analyst targets.
Their bonus pools are funded in direct relation to how
much brokerage is generated at the firm. It is in their
best interest to create an environment that is conducive
to that scenario. They play us as badly as MM's and
specialists do....that is a FACT.


I have friends/contacts at some of the large investment houses, so I know beyond a shadow of a doubt that the above is very true. FWIW, I was able to locate in print where this has been proven in the past. This is from an absolutely excellent book, and I am going to read it again next year and I highly suggest that you take a look at it too.
