RESEARCH ALERT - Hewlett-Packard raised to $135
NEW YORK, Dec 30 (Reuters) - A.G. Edwards on Thursday raised its 12-month price target of Hewlett-Packard (NYSE:HWP - news) to $135 from $115.

-- The accumulate rating is maintained.

-- Shares of Agilent Inc. (NYSE:A - news), which is being spun off by No. 2 computer maker Hewlett-Packard, have risen from $42 to $72 over the last four weeks, which has accounted for approximately $11 of Hewlett-Packard's share appreciation, wrote analyst Shebly Seyrafi in a research note.

-- Its sales of personal computers are expected to be strong due to the departure of International Business Machines Inc. (NYSE:IBM - news) and Packard Bell NEC, the U.S. personal computer operation of NEC Corp. from the U.S. retail market.

-- Hewlett-Packard also turned its server business around in the later half of October and November, achieving double-digit sales growth and reversing disappointing sales in September and the first half of October. The upward trend is expected to continue.

-- Shares of Hewlett-Packard were up 1-7/16 at 115-1/16 in trade on the New York Stock Exchange.
