Excellent article. Nortel's window of opportunity is good maybe for another year or so (as it continues to rake in the SONET money), but this isn't the technology of the future. Considering it's big price run up and resulting high P/E, I sold my NT position yesterday.
One big thing that CSCO has going for it in the battle with LU is that LU hasn't allocated it's capital spending as well as CSCO. This is reflected in the Stern Stewart figures for difference between cost of capital and return on capital, which is 425% higher for CSCO. OTOH, supplying telecos is LU business to lose, they have the inside track.
