T2 Would you say the tree has been shaken and the monkeys with a loose grip have fallen out and can only look up in amazement as the tree grows as much as 37 feet in one day?

Joe Battipaglia picked JDS Uniphase as his stock for 2000. He is also the guy that raised his Nasdaq target to 4000 by the end of 1999 but he did this about 800 to 1000 points ago. Great endorsement from one the most accurate bulls on this market.

I am hoping for a big close as long as the Nasdaq stays strong. Certainly the hedge funds would want to go long this market going into January and i am betting that it will only add more fuel.

I wish I had your confidence. Any fears I have are not related to JDSU but to the Qualcom Phenomena. What will happen once profit-taking sets in? Will there be spill-over into other "high fliers?" My thinking goes like this: Q can't keep going forever without a pull-back, most want to wait for a new tax year to lighten up, in the new year once profit-taking begins, it'll turn on a tap that's hard to stop. BUT, once it's turned off, buying will come back and techs will level off and begin a new climb.

I'm not a pro and these are just idle thoughts. The ol' fear-greed mental torment.

If Q hadn't gone into outer space, I wouldn't be nearly as concerned.

Welcome other opinions.

Pat

Excellent analysis t2. I guess whatever the machinations, shaking the tree causes greater technical strength. Now with that, I'm off to pop some champagne --

...when I was long JDSU
It was a very good year
It was a very good year, for...

with apologies to Frank Sinatra.

New Delhi just crossed over -- and the center is holding. Happy and peaceful New Year everyone.
