The financial writer in the Seattle Times often mentions a quote that may be appropriate in light of the indexes hitting all all times highs in the 1990s' penultimate trading session (as compared to Japan doing so in the 1980s' final trading session): "History always repeats itself, but never exactly."

Apologies if I remembered the quote imperfectly. Don't recall who he was quoting, either. Hey, I'll just write him and ask...

Plus it's a bit premature to say the market has peaked for a while.
