I don't quite understand the focus, frankly, when the most immediate problem to face Germany is the underdevelopment of the of the former GDR, and the most immediate security problem that Germany can have a strong role in is the stabilization of the former Soviet sphere, largely through strategic investment......It will be interesting to see if there is much dislocation in a couple of days, and if it has political repercussions. You are correct, it is such a basic issue that a failure to grapple with it will be revealing of fundamental incompetency.........
