As I understand it, the feds loan money for various periods of time and then repossess it with interest.

Or at least I think that is how it works.

The banks get the loaned monies for periods indicated, loan it out in turn for higher rates and make the money on the difference between what they pay and what they charge for the loan amounts.

At least in theory, I think that is how it works!
