Nat Post says Rex soars on kimberlite discovery

The National Post reports in its Thursday edition that a kimberlite discovery in northwest Africa sent the stock of Rex Diamond Mining soaring on Wednesday. The Post's Keith Damsell reports the junior's shares reached a record high of $9.45 in morning trade before cooling off in the afternoon, finishing up 85 cents at $9.10. The gains followed news on Tuesday that Rex had found a fourth kimberlite body in Mauritania. The anomaly is about 800 metres southwest of the diamond-bearing kimberlite found in October. Speculation about Rex's diamond potential in the region has lit a fire under shares recently. A year ago, the stock traded in the $1 range. Its market cap is around $540-million. Canaccord analyst David James, however, says Rex's price is out of line with the rest of the sector, and recommends selling. He has a 12-month target of $1 on Rex. About 85 per cent of the company's shares are held by small European investors, the Post reports.
