Bulldozer, I hope you would reconsider and post every once in a while. I promise not to ask any stupid questions. I realize the discussion has turned more to the stock price but it would be nice to get input from you every once in a while on the company's position in the industry and about new developments going on. It helps to get the technical perspective.

Otherwise some of us end up relying on other experts of the industry in other message boards--here at SI, Raging Bull, or yahoo---and industry articles. I tend to read a lot into the comments from KK and even his expressions when he is being interviewed.

In any case, I am glad you think the prospects for the company are better than ever.

Happy New Year.

BTW---This thread is very quiet most days. I would like it if the discussion turned more technical. I would read with great interest.
I would also cut down on my own posts. <g>
However, i sit in front of the computer (like a daytrader) and can't help posting when i notice no one else is.

Bulldozer, your knowledge about JDSU and its industry are sorely missed. One reason the thread revolves around money instead of technology is because you are not here to discuss it.

Your contribution would be most welcolmed and is needed.

I pledge to do what I can to keep the conversation tame and in focus when it comes to the subjects you wish to discuss.

Please?

I wonder if you could perhaps comment on a technical question? How important is the prospect of an all optical switch, as opposed to the current optoelectrical switches, to the facilitation of data transmission? Does current technology represent a significant bottleneck?

Bell Labs is active in researching this area, I gather, and Lucent claims to already have a product which appears to be the size of a large refrigerator:
lucent-optical.com
At the other end of the scale Nanovision, a development stage company, claims to also have one that utilizes nanotechnology but there is very little information that I can find on it.
