>just what are the big momo funds and market makers doing?

The same thing, but on a more massive scale. I'm sure Jeff Vinik could teach these small time criminals a thing or two about manipulating markets!

Market Makers on the nas set the price wherever the hell they want to. That is a FACT. The average investor just thinks stocks go up because people buy them. There is no formula for moving a stock up or down. If a MM has a big inventory, he can move the stock wherever he wants to. In the old days, 50 point daily moves would attract the SECs attention so they weren't so brazen. But now, with the SEC in the back pocket of wall street, and the SEC fraud enforcement division EMPTY since their department head left last month to join The Motley Fool, well- the criminals are running the show.

The SEC will _never_ clean up this mess. All those bastards want cushy private sector jobs when they leave public office. And you dont get those jobs by slapping the hands of the criminals who are going to employ you in the future. Well, when I say "employ", I mean "kickback for turning a blind eye"..
