James, in order to construct a scenario that I would consider "reasonable" that involves Jim, you have to either a) eliminate the use of a car, or b) explain how when the police searched his car they didn't find any evidence Suzanne had ever been in the car (fingerprints, hair, fiber, blood, etc.), nor evidence the car was wiped clean, washed, and vacuumed to cover these things up, nor evidence he stole or rented a car that night.

If you are able to do either of the above, there are a variety of scenarios that would be possible.

<Let's try to "prove" that Jim is guilty...Anybody game?> Absolutely! That's a terrific idea! If it 'flies,' Jeff and Jim have a little problem, or, if Jim is actually innocent, it will strengthen their knowledge of why he appears guilty. If it fails, Jeff and Jim are much further ahead. With their steadfastly maintaining Jim's innocence, I hope - and expect - that Jeff will earnestly jump-in on this approach.

Without reviewing the exact times, in partial answer to your question about who was the last person to see Jim, and in propounding questions for Jeff:

1. Jim saw Suzanne on Dec. 4th at "1:00-1:30, or around 4:00" when
she gave him a draft of her thesis.

2. He stayed at his office reading it and working on it.

3. Between 6:00 - 7:00, (an/)other lecturer(s)/professor(s) stopped
by his office to see if he wanted to go to the movies; he
declined {suggesting they invite Suzanne's friends instead :) }.

4. At some point, he took a break and went to the Rink to see part
of the game. {The new map shows the close proximity of his
office to the Rink.}

5. It is unclear whether he then returned to his office to
continue working on SJ's thesis, or whether, according to him,
he went to his apartment. {When he said he took a [short/brief]
break and went to watch part of the game, it implies he returned
to his pre-break work; however, that needs to be
confirmed.}

6. According to J.VdeV., he then to his apt., where he remained -
alone - for the rest of the evening and night.

This is where your questions, Plus, need to be answered by Jeff:

.The approx. time Jim arrived at and departed the Rink?
.
.Did he return to his office?
... If Yes, what time did he leave?
... If No, did he go directly to his apt.? If no, where?
.
.It is assumed Jim walked to the Rink from his office.
... Did he drive or walk home/his next destination?
.
.The approx. time Jim arrived at his apt./next location?
... If the next stop wasn't his apt., what time did he leave?
... Did he see anyone?
... If not answered, what time did he arrive at his apt. ?
.
.Where did Jim park his Jeep when he lived in that apt.?
.
.On the night of Dec. 4th, who was the last person to see Jim?
.
.On the night of Dec. 4th, at his apt., did Jim:
... Talk to anyone?
... Send any emails/faxes?

.After arriving at his apt., who was the first person Jim spoke
... to? When?

.Who was the first person to tell him about Suzanne's murder?
... When was he told?

Jeff: On behalf of many of us who are trying to assist your pursuit on this thread, it is requested that you simply answer the questions as fully as possible, explaining, if necessary; But, without editorial comments or defenses. TIA!
