I haven't seen this posted here, although I haven't followed carefully, so if it is a repeat, mea culpa!

Me too, except when I see footage of d-day, or the blue angels flying over the SF bay. Speaking of which, did you know the golden gate bridge was built entirely without state or federal taxes? the citizens of SF got together and agreed on a property tax bond, in order to attract tourism and create jobs for the city. the vote was nearly 100% in favor!

The governments ultimate role in a capitalist society should be to protect private property and freedom. Nothing more, nothing less. That means court systems backed up by laws and ultimately force/violence. That means national defense to make sure no outside forces can ever take away personal property or freedoms.

It also means welfare to some extent, because if food stamps didnt exist, people who are starving will certainly break into homes to get food.

The secret to democracy is voting. You take votes from the poor side, and money from the rich side, then promise each side that you're protecting them from the other side!

God bless america! Too bad this market mania, if it continues for another 12 months, will spell the end of capitalism as we know it. At the very least well get laws like in japan, where listed companies have to be profitable.. or if listed, then become unprofitable- they have 5 years to make a profit or be delisted.

99.9% of the nasdaq stocks would be erased.
