Buffett buys companies, not stock. His whole vision for a purchase target is built around a future revnue stream, a history of sustained profit growth, and in many cases, a balance sheet with excess cash value hidden away in some sort of undervalued asset. Which of the gorillas have no cash, no balance sheet, and no earnings? The point you are trying to make is.....?

"No cash, no balance sheet, no earnings"

David, your lack of dd is showing. Name one of our Gorillas or Kings that lacks cash, balance sheet, or earnings.

Please do some studying before you spread your shallow statements here.

David,

I can't imagine how many people have already responded to this, but I've just gotta. Actually, I'm not responding to you as much as I am responding to the uninitiated who might not yet be up to speed about what we're all about here.

... Gorilla and King Portfolio. No cash, no balance sheet, no earnings ...

To equate Gorillas and Kings with companies that have little cash, weak balance sheets and no earnings is only showing your ignorance. Look at the financial statements of the companies in the G&K portfolio and you'll soon realize how wrong you are. I can't speak for Kings because I don't spend much time following them, but my fascination with Gorillas is based partly on those companies' strategic use of their cash hoard, their strong balance sheet, and their ever increasing earnings.
