No. I agree with you. Not 40% adult population, just 40% general US pop., including both adults and children. And those poor families actually tend to have more children. I don't have statistics, but I guess the average # of children for the social welfare receipients are more than three. I might be wrong. As for the # of people working on Minimum wage, I think 5 million or so, if not more. I don't know which part of the country you live in. I think most of those minimum wage earners are living in the south.
