Did I add something wrong?

It's now 2am in Detroit (GMT-05:00). Another 3.5 hours get's me to 5:30am in GMT-05:00. Adding 17 to get to GMT+12:00 (time zones go from GMT-12:00 to GMT+12:00, correct?) gives me 22:30 ... an hour and a half short.

Do the "bulges" in the dateline give us more than 24 different time zones or something?

Not to mention the fact that millennium.govt.nz
says there are just under 4 hours left ... now that's odd ... a third time.

Okay ... I'm looking into it now (so don't feel compelled to "correct me" ... but feel free, I like being corrected :). It seems the "bulges" in the dateline make Tonga turn at 5:30am EST, parts of New Zealand at 6:00am EST, and then GMT+12:00 at 7am. I guess this means the time zones "sort of" run from GMT-12:00 (or maybe this overlaps as well for the Aleutians or other bulges ... anyone know who turns over last?) to GMT+13:30

I know I could look this up on a website, and I apologise for wasting space, but I don't feel like it right now ;).

Okay, I'll quit taking up space with garbage so the "real reports" won't get drowned out.
