I like the way you think. It's only a matter of time until the MP3 players become a commodity. RIO will soon be competing with half the GNP of Asia (especially Sony, who is not about to sit by and let their portable music market/mindshare evaporate). As the margins shrink and RIO's head-start becomes less important, S3 will need to find more creative ways to make this guy profitable.

Before your strategy will work, they'll need to make the RIOPort web site a little more robust. If they were smart, they'd concentrate on making the site popular even to those people not owning a RIO. For example, they could add more music news, interviews, features, reviews etc... Attracting more mainstream traffic and perhaps generating ad revenue.
