Appalled that Jordan was named #1 by ESPN. Shows who pays their bills - NIKE.
Great athlete, but hardly the greatest. Ali/Gretzky/Ruth all rank ahead of him, in my mind, for the way they raised their sports. Jordan stepped in at a time when BBall was on its way up. While he increased its spotlight, it was already ascendant.
The other three salvaged tarnished sports, and renewed interest in them.

Of course, Thorpe was the greatest ATHLETE of all time.
