SM, nice to see you here. BUT how are you going to allocate the handsets if they are only $99.99 and the minutes are 25c? Qualcomm won't be able to produce enough and they'll charge a LOT more than $100 if demand is crazy.

That's why the handsets have to be expensive and the minutes cheap initially. When Mdme Q, Ms Hagfish and Senorita Telita are producing 1m handsets a month, then the handset price could drop. But until then, the only way to ration something in short supply is to put the price up. [I know in socialist countries and state run countries they use other rotten systems of allocation --- and they wonder why their economies are so bad even though it's, theoretically, one for all and all for one].

It might just be that they have indeed hit the sweet spot at $1.50, $1500 and that reasonable monthly charge. I'd be surprised and will be VERY VERY financially happy if they have [see share calculation on previous post].
