Good point Rambi, seems the radical muslim elements were highlighted in that article. Not sure what the Chinese government policy is toward religion. They probably feel it takes away the power of their beloved leaders or something. People who are intolerant of faith (or not faith) strike me as extremely odd. And in some ways dangerous.

Here's my own quote...

"Without faith or spirituality, people put too much faith in ONE man. And that's how the Hitlers and Lenins of the world get their power"

Michael

The principal danger to man is the desire for dominion over others. I believe that it is impossible to deliberately and intentionally kill, rape, torture, or enslave another human being as long as you acknowledge that the other is a human being. (Leaving an out for insanity and emotional overload.) Religion is frequently an excuse to divide the universe into "us" (human beings) vs. "them" (not worthy of the dignity and respect we accord human beings).

But most of the worst offenses of the 20th century were NOT motivated by religion, e.g., the starvation of millions in Russia by Stalin, the great purges by Mao, World War I, World War II, most of the millions of people killed in this century that is ending as we speak were motivated by the desire for power, for empire and dominion, naked and raw.
