I would guess that the French clerics who condemned Joan of Arc (a good Christian) to be burned at the stake were all "good Christians" as were the English soldiers who actually burned her (especially the one whom it was said gave her a rudely fashioned cross). Jean Calvin was certainly a good Christian when he had Michael Servetus burned at the stake. The English clerics who had the Oxford Martyrs (Cranmer, Ridley, Latimer (good Christians all)) burned at the stake were no doubt good Christians by their lights). Not to mention the millions of people of all religions, races, sexual preferences, chemical preferences, nationalities, alleged heretics, Black people, Morisco conversos, Molochites, Lakota, Ghost Dancers, Gandhians, forcibly baptised Jews, Hamanites, Communists, Social Democrats, wiccans, Japanese Americans, Salem witches, adulterers, Mormons, Nez Perces, spies, Protestants, American Prisoners of War, Cherokees, Canaanites, sodomites, Armenians, Gypsies, Benjaminites, prostitutes, abortionists, nuns, rapists, Hussites, Jews, Arminians, Wycliffites, pagans, Baptists, who were burned, hanged, shot, hacked or starved to death, or gassed by good Christian inquisitors, Dominicans, Nazis, Communists, Englishmen, FBI, U.S. Army, Anarchists, Khmer Rouge, Sternists, Assassins, lynch mobs, Public health services researchers, and assorted passers by. |
