thank you Rande for all the work an thought you put in to the thread.....my being here has taught me many ,many things about the way the inner workings of the stock market...your insights were an are exceptional...my only regret is that it took me too long to understand an trust what was going on here...this is my second full year of investing in individual stocks....the first year i thought i knew more than i did ...got cocky,,100% margin...an then got creamed...to the point of almost getting knocked out out of the market...went down for the count..but the ref gave me a long count letting me get up to start.........my second year...finally realized i should be a little more cautious....spent countless hours reading all i could...made my way to countless threads...made a lot more mistakes but to a lesser degree than the first year...my second year ends with the same winning percentage as the first year had lossing percentage although from a smaller base....so i am now poised at the beginning of my third year with almost the same capital as i had to start with...but feeling much more confident with what i am doing an ready to spring forward......thank you......redwood

RANDE IS-thanks for all your work for the benefit of this thread!

I appreciate you and others such as (sorry I could not list all regulars) Kevin Shea, BANCHEE, William Jepsen, KevinThompson, DlphcOracl, Sting-Ray 57, American Spirit, and carepedeum2000 who contribute their insights!

I started Jan. 1999 with 175 k and now end Dec. 31st, 1999 at 718,200. This should compute to a 310 percent return.

I am sure it would have been well over a million if I had learned of this thread back before the April down draft. (I stayed 100 % fully invested and yet could see the greed in the market.) I discovered this thread in June of this year (as I recall) and have been amazed at what I have learned about trading and investing since. I can see how successes are achieved and how mistakes are made.

I work at my profession of practicing law full-time. I have missed many trains leaving the station (there is ALWAYS another one) due to work concerns for my clients. I sometimes wonder if my rate of return would be higher OR lower if I was actually trading full-time.

My dream is to succeed enough with investing and trading to work part-time at my work job within 2 to 4 years. However, if my luck holds up I may want to quit the legal profession sooner than I think!

Greed into 2000 is my main concern right now. I plan to keep my "gorilla" stocks and other favorites such as Softbank though the year but will exit some positions by mid-Jan due to the expected continued run up. The main problem I see will be reinvesting the money at good entry prices in late Jan. or sometime in Feb. I also have been impressed with the biotech area and have had BBH on my watch list since it came out.

Again, THANKS TO EVERYONE on this thread, the Gorilla thread, and the Softbank thread for their sharing of their lives as we all work to achieve financial success pursuant to whatever goals each of us has set for themselves!

As for me, my aim is to be better positioned to achieve the goals I have set for myself, to help my loved ones, and to be of service to others. Being concerned about monthly bills does not thrill me. Helping others (without being concerned about myself-with my security, power, and sensation needs)brings the greatest satisfaction.

May life be good to all of you in 2000!

Rande and all !
Happy New Year from Austria ! Been in work over the silvester night to watch all our computers, but nothing - really nothing at all, not even to older machines - happened. I hope, the Y2K-bugs will not be coming out, when the holidays are over, but I don't think so.
I am watching Bruce Springsteen on TV now, I love this guy, his music gives me a little insight to living in America (at least I have that imagination).
Wanna thank all the guys on this site for providing information and reading pleasure.
Best regards, prosperous trading, sorry for long post - styrianoak

Rande et al...

Looks like the Y2K Bug hit the windshield - great news for all. With Y2K behind us, it's full steam ahead. Looking forward to the next 364 days.
