these posts between kissy and others including yourself are concerning me a tad here.

- happy, you say you feel you were handing him 4k in salary every month ? but the fellow makes 4k in tax free $ every year. huh ? i somehow doubt that you passed over 48k in tax $ that just was earmarked for welfare. are you sure your figures are correct.
- i think there are two sides to the story about work. i was just in the grocery store a couple days ago, buying some bottled water i didn't need, ho ho, and i noticed the woman , quite old actually, working the cash, was wearing one of those wrist braces, likely due to a rsi type injury...she works, she suffers, is she a sucker ? i think in many ways yes. think about it. does your ex beach bum neighbour have this problem, no, he's too smart to get suckered into shitty work
- what should people work hard AT ? perhaps you picked the right field, computers, but not everyone picks the right thing. for every person that is fortunate to work for a cisco systems, a cutting edge company, there is a person who worked for one of the many many high tech companies that failed, and left its staff with non-cutting edge skills. people start businesses, then get their butts kicked by a large dept store or whoever. Did you ever see the 60 minutes special on a small town, where there were 8 places you could buy a bike, now its only you know who...
where are the old store owners supposed to go ? for computer retraining at the age of 60 ?
- we have a lot of people in Newfoundland on welfare. they fished the waters there for centuries, but our GOVERNMENT messed things up and now had to institute quotas on fishing. so they send the people for computer retraining, as if you can take an-ex fisherman with grade school education and make him into a programmer, right.
- you might not like welfare, but do you know the consequences of cutting people off ? come to downtown toronto, i'll show you.
- I visited Australia and did not have a good experience as a tourist, but, how many countries that are reasonably prosperous take in immigrants, hmm ?
have a good and happy :) new year...
