Hockeyfan,

<<Retail checkout counters = VISA/MASTERCARD smartcard application>>

You left out American Express Blue Card - another heavy hitter!

Btw, forgot to mention that Liberate (Lbrt) isn't near profitable and won't be anytime soon.
>>Remember my post on Oracle providing the E-commerce software for Ford and Boeing's parts acquisition network? Randy has mentioned Ford several times before. I believe that significant new revenues, not necessarily profits, and a few marquee names will be all that are needed in the current market to send IDX into orbit. I can list 25 stocks that have skyrocketed to huge market caps recently on $20 million or less in annual revenues, a wing and a prayer. <<

Unisys came through for me in 98, Iatv in 99. y2k looks right for Idx.

Hockeyfan,

I predict that I will post the first post of the new year.

And I suggest that folks remember that within this industry.....there is IDX.....and nobody else.

Kind of cool.

It would seem to be the right time to make sure you have the IDX position that you wish to have. When interest in data security pops....it may move quick. The Montana boys believe that institutional ownership is still growing.......while shorting is not. This is good.

And keep in mind that the Federal Government now wants on-line drug stores to make sure that real doctors are sending in real prescriptions.......How are they going to do that?

IDX has the solution.....as we all know.

Happy New Year.

Bags Match Passenger?

Hockeyfan,

As I'm sure you are still gloating over your victory, hollow as it may be.......I'm not sure if you noticed the same thing I did while traveling to the last high level Commission meeting held at a secret location....in Sarasota.

I had the chance to visit 3 airports....SLC, Hartsfield (Atlanta)....and Tampa.

When boarding the plane, at all 3 locations, there was a laser bar scanner at the gate entrance.......the boarding pass was scanned....and I was allowed to proceed down the Jetway.

I'm sure you had to go through the same process?.....and saw the machines?

Well....did you also notice the 1.5 x 1.5 inch square hole that was in the corner of the machine....with a plastic insert in it?

I hope you did.......I think that hole is for a future index finger scanner......so that the airline can be sure that the individual who checked the bag...is the same individual who gets on the plane.

I see the same prepared opening on the new ATMs.

Next time you fly...check it out. Right now.......the boarding pass is scanned....but it does not mean that the person who checked the bag..... is the same one who gets on the plane.

I think this is a security problem that could be easily solved with the IDX solution........An index print is taken at bag check in.....and again at boarding.

Anyhow....I think the pre-cut hole in these new boarding scanners are for future biometric identification. Perhaps the FAA will move this Spring.....as Y2K seems to have been a non-event.......but security seems to be a growing concern.
