Aj,
I believe consensus on AMD. for Q4 is -$0.02. SSB, raising from .00 to $.11 is definitely good news...here we go again...up.

Thank you and Athlon_K75....
Jim

AJ - RE: "Courtesy of AthlonK75 from Yahoo"

Thanks to both of you for the news!

I expect more of these leading to Q4 earnings release because current average estimates are still for a loss.

Did you notice they are expecting flash revenues of only $224? AMD specifically said they expect $250M.

"At an analyst meeting at company headquarters in Sunnyvale, California, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer W.J. Sanders III said the company had sold out its Flash memory availability for the current quarter, and that he expects that the company will achieve $250 million in sales of Flash memory devices in the current quarter."

But the analyst tries to make up for his low estimate by saying this - "Flash should present some upside to our present Q1 forecast of $224 million, up 15% sequentially."

These guys make no sense!

Isn't it their JOB to make ACCURATE predictions??

ragingbull.com;

I don't know the timeline of that article but that is what will jump start the gap up next week that I spoke about in my earlier post.

BTW I find it ludicrous that with the current valuations on most chip stocks, Smith Barney is placing a price target of only $35 on AMD. As 'out there' as their projections are compared to most other analysts, they like the rest are too paranoid to price AMD with the rest of the semis. Not to worry, the market will take care of that.

Hi ajbrenner:

Wow!!! Salomon Smith Barney:

i) ups Q4 eps to +$0.11.
ii) 1.1 million Athlons shipped in Q4.
iii) 12.5 million Athlons in 2000.
iv) significant upside to Q1 flash estimate of $224 million. (i.e. try $75 million upside minimum)!

What a great way to kick off the New Year...Wouldn't surprise me a bit if consolidation at $28.50 +/- $0.75 has been concluded with this announcement by such a major Firm! Next week could be an eventful week not unlike Nov. 11 week.

Near term positives include:
i) possibility of Dresden tenant announcement.
ii) sale of Communications group.
iii) GTW climbing aboard the Athlon express.
iv) minimum of $900 million in Q4 revenues based on 1.1 million Athlons. (Still can't rule out possibility of $1 billion Q4 revenues...$335m Non-Athlon, $315m Athlon, $275m Flash, $75m Communications).
v) Q1 revenue projections will certainly be greater than $1 billion.
v1) Y2000 revenue projections to exceed $5 billion based upon 12.5 million Athlon units(i.e double 1999 revenues).
vii) Y2000 minimum earnings of $2.00 per share.Multiples of $2.00 achieved if no major hiccups in Dresden ramp up.

Hey ajbrenner, looks like Y2000 could be even more prosperous than the very prosperous 1999, which provided an outstanding return for those who boarded the Athlon express!

Thanks again to you and AthlonK7 for kickstarting the new year on such a positive note!
