Patrick,
Hi!!

RE: Don't feel bad. Some of the best headaches I have ever had were on Longs Peak.

It was 1968..My brother(fresh off the PA.State Title) and myself (fresh off the Freshman State College Title)...18 and 19 year old studs ya know... :o) We decided to "conquer" this trek which we had admired since 1960...Well, exhausted and hanging on while our heads cleared...Literally every 50ft. We clung to the cables..Discussing how macho we must have been since we felt we were on near record time in making this climb...Until, we heard female voices below us at the base of the cables...Hardly believing this and figuring our lack of oxygen had caused auditory "hallucinations" we sat there to find out if what we were hearing was actually a reality...Well, within five minutes passing us were two gorgeous gals from Colorado State...A "small hike today guys"...Embarrassed that our pride had been totally demolished by two girls...we settled for the knowledge that their voices had a foreign accent...It turns out they were from German/Austrian area and this literally was a small hike for them..
:o)
Best, Kemble
